Socio-economic impacts of low-volume roads using a mixed-method approach of PCA and Fuzzy-TOPSIS

Thepresent study proposes a novel mixed-method approach to ascertain and explorethe socio-economic indicators, which help in assessing the impacts of theconstruction rural roads. Rural road infrastructure often has direct orindirect (SEIs) on target population. Assessment ofSEIs poses wide range challenges due their multi-dimensional nature ofvarious factors qualitative quantitative evaluation process.Thus, present suggests unique integratemultivariate techniques under multi-criteria fuzzy framework. The applicabilityof this is demonstrated by employing case roads constructedunder Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Jhunjhunu district ofRajasthan, India. findings analysed total 33 sub-criteriaassociated with five main impacted construction PMGSYroads. Sub-criteria contributing education facility quality ofneighbourhood have been found as most significant effects. results ofthe analysis presented would benefit respective StateGovernments achieve sustainable development.
